Very much agreed. The state of Science reporting in the US at least (my only real frame of reference) is just deplorable. They'll play on common misconceptions, or latch onto tiny or tentative details and blow them out of proportion just for a sensationalist grabber, or even worse they'll contrast actual science with some sort of new age "alternative" as if both are equally valid.
